Dear Editor:
I have just gone through the newest edition of the Superior Sun and on the front cover is the Jr. High Boys Championship picture.
Well, I am not pleased with the picture at all. It makes it seem like only the eighth grade boys won the championship, when there were some seventh graders that also played just as much as these boys did. Don’t you think it should have been the whole team on the front page, not just the eighth graders?
My son played each game and never missed one game, and I know a few other seventh graders also played the whole season. How do you think these boys felt when they saw the picture and they weren’t in it?
I’m sure my son wasn’t happy because he played. Yes, there are pictures on the inside of the paper, but the whole team should have been on the front page.
I am very happy for the Jr. High team for winning the championship, as well as all the fans that did show for the game, and this the only thing that upset me; and, I’m sure other parents and family, who were there to see the kids play and win, wouldrather see the whole team on the front page, also.
Thank you for letting me vent. I hope, in the future, you think of all the kids’ feelings. If they were all in on a game they should all be acknowledged; not just half the team.
Thank you,
/s/ Brenda Bueno
Editor’s note: It was never our intent to exclude the seventh grade boys from the photo. We know that they worked just as hard for their championship as the other boys did. And if you had a chance to look inside at the two-page photo spread that we included in the same issue, you would have seen a photo of all the boys.
Unfortunately, that photo wasn’t the best one we had. Several of the boys had their eyes closed, many of them were looking away from the camera and, in one case, the boy was looking completely behind him. We had many more photos from the game that we were unable to print. You can still view the many photos by going online to http://bit.ly/WYpnSZ.
