After 13 plus years as a member of the Mammoth-San Manuel Unified School District Governing Board, current President Mark Phelps has decided to resign. He announced his resignation at the school board meeting held on Jan. 14. His resignation was effective Jan. 15. Mark said that he was happy to have been on the school board and that he “is leaving the district in very capable hands.” “I wish the district the best of luck in the future,” said Mark.
School Superintendent John Ryan said that Mark’s leaving is a loss to the district. “We will miss his leadership,” said John. “On behalf of the staff and students we thank you for your dedication and leadership.” The other board members also thanked Mark. He was presented with a plaque by Superintendent Ryan.
An election was held for the board’s officers. Terry Newman was elected president and Gloria Lynn Zeiler vice president.
