Paul L. Castaneda

  Paul L. Castaneda, 90, passed away on Oct. 16, 2016 at his home in Superior.  Paul was born on April 30, 1926 in Jerome, AZ to Paulino and Dominga Castaneda.

  He served in the United States Army during WWII as Private First Class where he received the following medals:  European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

  Paul worked as a miner for Magma Copper Company for 35 years where he was known as “411” to many miners.

  Paul is preceded in death by his wife Enedina Castaneda and his three sons, Andy, Richard and Joe. He is survived by three brothers and three sisters; his daughters, Olga Lopez and Katrina (Henry) Mendoza; and his son, Paul (Anna) Castaneda III. He has 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was a great man and will be missed by his family.

  Funeral services were held at St. Frances of Assisi in Superior, Arizona on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. Interment followed Mass at Fairview Cemetery at 3:15 p.m. with Military Honors and a reception at Los Hermanos Hall.
