Pastor’s Corner: Walking Jesus’ road

In Nehemiah 9:26-28, we see this situation.  The Israelites rebelled against God, and He handed them over to their enemy.  They cried out to Him for mercy, and in His great compassion He delivered and rescued them.  As soon as they were at peace, they again did evil in His sight.  In His compassion, He rescued them time after time again.

These were ‘God’s chosen people,’ the ones He called His own.  Their lives were lived like a yo-yo, up and down between right and wrong, over and over.  They had not yet learned how to walk with the Lord as had Adam & Eve, Enoch and Abraham.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has plans for us, but often, we have our own plans; and they are not in alignment with His.  Sometimes we are both on a different path.  But these two paths do not always arrive at the same destination.

If heaven is to be our future home, we must walk the road that Jesus is walking on.  Scripture tells us that when we seek Him, we will find Him.  Then, do not just follow Him, but walk along side Him.  Talk with Him, get to know Him better.  Follow His example and your life will be a wonderful blessing to others.
