Pastor’s Corner – Seek the Lord

Exodus 23:25 tells us:  “worship the LORD your God, and His blessing will be on your food and water.  I will take away sickness from among you.”  Jesus, teaching in Matthew 6:33 repeats this promise – “Seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

One of God’s compound names is “Jehovah-Jireh,” which means – “the Lord will provide.”  This is a promise from the Almighty God of the universe.  And, best of all, He does not go back on, or forget His promises.

Notice that the first action is our responsibility.  We are to seek and worship the Lord.  When we honor Him, He responds for our benefit.  He provides us with food, drink, shelter, and health, the basic necessities of life.  According to Jeremiah 29:11, His plan for us is to prosper and have a good future.

God does not play favorites with people.  Anyone who responds to Him, He will bless.  Being ‘good enough’ is not a requirement for us.  We must believe in Him as our Lord and Savior, loving Him for who He is and what He has done for us in our lives.  His response is to then cause the blessings to flow in our lives.

Seek first the Kingdom of God, then, His love and provision will be your experience in how your life is lived.  By the way, don’t forget to say “thank you” to Him for all He blesses you with!
