Pastor’s Corner – It is never too late to live happily ever after!

Most people who look into the future are unsure of what they see. For most, the future is a blur of black and grey shadows. Apprehension grips their hearts as the scale of uncertainty for the future tips into the direction of despair.

I write to say that fear and foreboding need not hold our hearts captive. We have an option for living happily ever-after.

After the worst imaginable thing happened in New Town, Connecticut and the entire nation felt as if we had been sucker punched by a teenage gunman in a safe little school of young innocent children, the President of the United States gave a speech meant to comfort us all. What would one say to grieving families and a distressed people? There was only one way to start …

OBAMA: “Thank you. Thank you, Governor. To all the families, first responders, to the community of Newtown, clergy, guests, scripture tells us, ‘Do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly, we are being renewed day by day.’

“‘For light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all, so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.’

“‘For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven not built by human hands.’”

There is only one place to go if you want to live happily ever after. His name is Jesus. He is the Christ – The Savior of the world. Speak with Him and tell Him that you need Him. Let Him know that you trust in His death and resurrection to pay for your sin. Then trust Him to give to you life eternal.
