Pastor’s Corner – A Season of Thanksgiving

This is the season of thanksgiving. Although we take time to reflect on our gratitude for our many blessings, we should live each day with an attitude of thankfulness. The Apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, instructs us to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Having proper ‘manners’ means that we say ‘thank you’ upon receiving a gift, or help from a friend in doing a task. This is not just a quick, “oh, thanks,” but a heart-felt and strong THANK YOU! Let them know from your heart that you really do mean what you are saying and feeling.

The Israelites had many sacrifices as a part of their worship to Almighty God. In Psalm 107:22 we read, “Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of His works with songs of joy.” There are many passages in the Bible that tell us to give thanks to God and praise His name.

God is in the blessing business and reaches out to us regularly. The Scriptures tell us many things about Him. He gives us the ability to get riches, He provides for our needs, gives us health, watches over us and protects us, guides and directs us, warns of disaster; and at the end of our days, He takes us home to live with Him in heaven.

What an awesome God! He does all of this for one main reason:He loves us! Deuteronomy 8:10 says, “When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.”

Thank you, Almighty God, for Your love, compassion and provision. For Your wonderful blessings, we honor and praise Your Holy and Eternal Name. Thank You!!!
