Thank you for the great turn out at the Valentine’s Day Banquet and concert. Because of the great response (over 140 people) we had to move it to Leo Terrill Hall. Music was provided by Peter Whitebird and the night was sponsored by Kearny SBC, Fellowship Baptist Church, Church of the Good Shepherd and Copper Valley Christian Center. I think all that attended would agree, we need to do this again very soon! This was the final event of our “Journey To the Center of Life” city-wide event. Our next event will be during Pioneer Days at the end of March.
Don’t you just miss being able to get out to a movie on the weekends? Well I have been thinking about this for quite a while and would like to start showing movies at Kearny SBC on Friday or Saturday nights. What night do you think would be best? The first movie I would like to show is Courageous. I would like to set it up in a theater setting with popcorn, drinks and of course Twizzlers! All the movies would be free (or at a minimal cost). Movie nights are coming in the next few weeks!
This past Sunday I had to cancel service as I was down with the flu that has been going around town. In fact my whole family was sick with it! As I was sitting home on Sunday I started to think about how much I have to be thankful for. Yes, I was sick with a headache, fever and nose that was flowing like Niagara Falls, but I was reminded that this cold is just temporary. Maybe it was God’s way of slowing me down to appreciate everything that He has given me. You know, God’s Word says we do not own anything, we are just caretakers of what He has given us. I am thankful for my wife and family, my church family and this town that the Lord has called us to! What are you thankful for? God reminded me of what He said in Hebrews 12:28 – “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” In good times and in bad – be thankful! The truth is this is easier said than done, especially when that light at the end of the tunnel turns out to be a train!
Rest assured – God is in control! He is not only in control of my life, but yours and the life of this town. Here is what I learned – the light at the end of the tunnel was a train but it was not coming towards me…it was actually God leading me the way out! Matthew 5:14 states – “You are the light of the world.” So….my final question to you – What light are you following?
Don’t forget the Greatest Gift is still – FREE! That is the gift of Eternal Life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! Please visit a church that shares the truth this weekend!
So, there you have it…If you have any questions or comments please send me a note at kearnysbc@gmail.com or give me call at 520-363-9573.
God Loves YOU!
