One day after defeating Duncan, 8 – 3, the Superior Panthers’ softball team learned they had qualified for the state tournament. It is a tremendous accomplishment for Coach Cheryl Lopez and the very young, but talented, Panthers team.

The Panthers will open with a first-round contest against Yuma Catholic on May, 2, 2013. The game will be played at Rose Mofford Field at 4:00 p.m.

Coach Lopez announced the team is selling Superior Panthers window decals for $10. Additionally, any persons purchasing a window decal will automatically be entered in a raffle to win a gift basket which includes Panthers’ and other miscellaneous items. All proceeds will benefit the Panthers’ state playoff expenses.

In the victory versus Duncan, Yulissa Sandoval, a senior, had three hits. Gabby Salcido and Cierra Navarrette also contributed offensively. Sophomore pitcher Hunter Flanagan pitched a complete game in earning the win.
