The Superior boys’ basketball team squeaked out a two-point victory at home last week, defeating NFL Yet Academy 65 – 63 on Dec. 12.
Junior Cedric Mendoza scored a team-high 17 points in addition to grabbing seven rebounds in the Panthers’ fourth win of the season. Steven Ybarra, a junior, poured in 12 points to go along with three rebounds and five assists.
A freshman was arguably the Panthers’ biggest star of the game.
Dominic Hernandez scored eight points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. It was Hernandez’ third-straight game with at least 12 rebounds.
Jared Moreno and Matthew Perez had nine and seven points, respectively, in the win. Perez, a freshman, also had nine rebounds.
Up next: Jan. 5 vs. Miami and Jan. 9 at Hayden. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
