With the help of the San Manuel Fire Department, Oracle Ridge Mine has provided assistance to the Tri-Community. Fire Chief John Stanford was approached by Oracle Ridge Mine to select a number of non-profits in the area to share $10,000, which they would donate for the betterment of the community.
John Stanford was chosen because of his familiarity with the area and knowledge of the people in the community. Chief Stanford formed a committee made up of Fire district Board members and firefighters.
They selected six local non-profit organizations to receive the money. On Mon. Sept. 24 at the San Manuel Fire Department, Chief Stanford presented six checks to the organizations on behalf of Oracle Ridge Mine.
The organizations that received the donations were the San Manuel Educational Foundation ($1,000), Safe Journey House ($1,500), San Manuel Library ($1,500), Tri-Community Food Bank ($2,000), San Manuel Elks Lodge ($2,000) and Copper Town Days ($2,000).
The San Manuel Educational Foundation will use the money for their Project Graduation. The Safe Journey House provides information, education and services to help victims of domestic violence. Copper Town Days helps support local groups with their projects and will holding a reunion and celebration of the mining days in San Manuel Sat. Oct. 6.
San Manuel Library provides access to media, educational programs, and computers while offering books and DVDs for entertainment. The Tri-Community Food Bank helps feed between 350 and 375 needy families a month.
The San Manuel Elks Lodge will use the donation to support their numerous local programs which includes Trunk or Treat at Halloween, the free Thanksgiving dinner for the community, Children’s Christmas party and Project Graduation.
On behalf of Oracle Ridge Mining and the Fire Department, Chief Stanford thanked the organizations for helping the community.
The representatives of each of the Tri-Community non-profits thanked the Oracle Ridge Mine for their donations. Oracle Ridge Mine is on schedule to open some time next year. Many people in the Tri-Community welcome them to the area and thank them for their generous donation.
