Oracle Piano Society’s new performance hall.
“Ravel Soiree,” an evening of fine cuisine, wine tasting, and an in-the-round multi-media piano concert performed by Dr. Stephen Cook will introduce the public to the new home of Oracle Piano Society on Saturday, October 10.
The four-course dinner, followed by selected wines paired with musical selections and poetry recitations, is a capital fundraising event to support the society’s purchase of the former Masonic lodge in Oracle. The society was founded three years ago and is widely known for presenting high-caliber classical music performance events at other venues.
Dr. Cook, founder and artistic director, will perform on the Baldwin concert grand, paying homage to the brilliant compositions of Maurice Ravel with Pavane pour une Infante defunte, Sonatine, and Gaspard de la nuit. Recitations of poems by Aloysius Bertrand will accompany the program.
Tickets are available only in advance for either the dinner, wine and concert at $100 per person, or for just the concert and wine tasting at $30 per person. The 36,000 square foot masonry building with high wood ceiling over the performance hall and theater seats, a spacious lobby, modern kitchen, and large parking area is located just off American Ave. at 700 E. Kingston St. The non-profit society is purchasing it for $200,000 and plans to develop it as an Oracle community arts center. Tickets to the Jim Click-sponsored “Millions for Tucson Charities Raffle” for a new Ford Mustang will be available for purchase. The society will keep proceeds of tickets it sells.
