Wayne Wilmans Plant Manager for OMYA-Superior presents a check to Rita Wentzel for necessary pool repairs. OMYA remains a strong supporter for the Superior Aquatics Center.

The temperatures outside may still be too cold to swim and few want to start thinking about the 100 degree temperatures that are weeks away, but that did not stop OMYA international from providing funds to make necessary repairs to the Town of Superior Aquatics Center.

Despite the season, the pool equipment must run every day and during a routine maintenance check, the town found that the pool need several major repairs in order to keep running safely.

OMYA’s donation to the town helped to replace broken backwash valves, impeller, light assemblies and the pump and seals for the chlorinator. The funds also covered labor, parts, supplies and repairs to the muratic acid and water-leveling pump.

Interim Town Manager Rita Wentzel explained that without the generous contributions made by OMYA the pool may not have been able to open. Wentzel was instrumental in working with OMYA to donate the much needed $2,871.

“OMYA has always been a supporter of Superior and the Aquatics Center,” stated Wentzel. “When the pool first opened, they purchased the lane dividers for swim competitions. They routinely sponsor OMYA free swim days during the season. We appreciate all OMYA has done to support the town now and over the years.”
