Norma L. Rains

  Norma L. Rains, 85 of Kearny, passed away in Mesa, Arizona on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Norma was born on Nov. 22, 1933 in Blocker, Oklahoma to parents Elmer and Inez (Edwards) Cottrill. She grew up with two brothers, Kenneth and Sonny, and two sisters, Margie and Ruby, and attended school in Coolidge, Arizona. 

  Norma married Floyd “Bud” Ray Rains, and together they moved to San Diego, California. They raised four children, Bobby, Debi, Tina and Candice. Norma worked as a waitress for more than 30 years. They relocated back to Arizona in 1978, where Bud worked doing maintenance for Indian Hills Trailer Park in Winkelman, Arizona until he passed in 1986. Norma then became an In Home Caretaker. 

  Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Inez Cottrill; husband, Floyd “Bud” Ray Rains; son, Bobby Malone; brothers. Kenneth Cottrill and Sonny Cottrill; sisters, Ruby Ramirez and Margie Fitzgerald; and son-in-law, Rick Stout.

  Norma is survived by her daughters, Debi Stout, Candice “Candy” (Everett) Skillings and Tina Butts. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

  Norma loved playing games, such as Aggravation, Dominoes, and especially loved Yahtzee and UNO. She was truly the matriarch of the family. Norma will be remembered by her great (sometimes crude) sense of humor, her attitude, and her willingness to always speak her mind. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. 

  A memorial service and inurnment for Norma will be held on her 86th birthday, Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 in Coolidge, Arizona at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, 6894 AZ-287, Coolidge, Arizona 85128. She will be laid to rest with her husband Floyd Ray Rains.
