On Feb. 25, 2017, Wayne Newman led a strong squad on the men’s side of things. He entered the competition as the three-time defending Atlantic SUN champion in the 60m hurdles.

Wayne brought a lot of excitement in his events. He was the three-time defending champion in the 60m Hurdles, which was already an incredible accomplishment.

He then pulled off a historic four-peat in the 60m hurdles, winning his fourth consecutive Atlantic SUN title in the event with a blazing time of 7.91 seconds.

Wayne had a busy day, adding a second place finish in the 200m, a fourth in the 60m dash, and anchoring our 4x400m relay.

The Arizona native also earned an All-Conference spot in the 200m with a 22.12 seconds mark. He nearly grabbed a third podium finish after placing fourth in the 60m with a time of 6.969 seconds.

Wayne is set to graduate from Lipscomb University in May, 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. He is a 2013 graduate of San Manuel High School.
