Mammoth Police Chief Steve Nash had lunch with students at the Mammoth STEM School on Wednesday, Sept. 10, the first of what Chief Nash plans to do every week.
Nash said that he met with 1st Avenue/Mammoth Elementary School Principal and asked to have lunch with the students one day each week. The Chief said he enjoyed his first lunch with the kids tremendously. He believes that the lunches with the kids will have a positive impact for a number of reasons.
“The students will have an opportunity to discover that police officers are here to help them,” Nash said. “They will realize that we are easy to approach and talk to if needed. The students will learn that they should not be afraid of police officers. They will see that we are willing to listen to them and try to answer any questions or concerns. I also hope to set an example and motivate them to work hard and make positive choices.”
