Mammoth-San Manuel School District Superintendent John Ryan was given a new three year contract at the district Board meeting on June 11, 2013 which calls for an annual salary of $102,500 with the opportunity to earn another $5,000 annually upon reaching incentive goals based on the state school evaluation system.

The incentive goals are based on A-F school evaluations which are graded by standard testing scores. For school year 2013-14, this includes AIMS.

The five incentive goals would each give Ryan an additional $1,000. They include B-grade or better marks in the MSMSD District grade, STEM schools, First Avenue Elementary, San Manual Junior High and San Manuel High School.

School Board member Terry Newman said that John Ryan did a good job coordinating both of his roles as Superintendent of the District and Principal of San Manuel High School.

The Board approved the following employment transfers: Andrew Madrid, Continuous Improvement Plan; Windy Messing, Continuous Improvement Plan; Veronica Fry, Summer School Teacher; Heonmi Kim, Math Teacher; Scott Bardin, Spanish Teacher; Manuel Yubeta, Science Teacher; Toni Cittadini, Summer School Food Service; Linda Creely, Summer School Food Service; Genevieve Burnham, Summer School Food Service; Greta Zazueta, Summer School Food Service.

The First Avenue Elementary School mission, vision and goals were approved as presented by Melissa Joliat.

The mission reads: “To provide a safe and collaborative community where participants are valued and strive to achieve their personal best in academics and character on the path of lifetime learning.”

The two approved goals include: “Teachers are responsible for updating all appropriate data weekly to target instruction,” and, “All staff will implement the chosen school wide character education program by August 30, 2013.”

The Board accepted the resignation of Music Teacher Erin Hepler effective May 21, 2013. The Board also approved the San Manuel Junior/Senior High School Student-Parent Handbook.
