More ‘transparency’ needed – show us the money

Thanks to the information I read in the Dec. 17 issue of theSuperior Sun, about the Town of Superior being unable to even repay $100 a month payments to the State for mis-spending the HURF funds, I brought up the subject at the Town Council meeting Dec. 18.  I told the Mayor and the Council and the Town Manager how upset I was that the town had failed to make payments and now the current HURF funds will be held back.   Councilman Gilbert Aguilar told me I was wrong, that the Town has indeed been making payments.  He said I was wrong to believe what I had read in the paper.

Well, I disagree.  If the Town is making proper payments, why did the State Attorney General Office and the ADOT office say they were not receiving any money from Superior?  Are the State’s offices lying too?

There seems to be differences among the members of the Town Council as to what is being paid and what isn’t as well.  It is long overdue that the Town has released financial statements so that the public can see for themselves what is the Truth and what is not.  The clarity of the “Transparency” the Mayor talks about could be better.

Can we see some financial statements please?
