The San Manuel football team scored its first points of the season against Benson last Friday, but it was of little consolation as the Bobcats cruised to the victory, 49 – 6. Benson totaled over 400 yards of offense in the win.
The Miners fell behind early despite scoring in the first quarter and trailed 28 – 6 entering the second quarter. The Bobcats then scored 21 unanswered points, taking a 49 – 6 lead into the locker room at halftime. Both teams kept the other off the scoreboard in the second half.
The Miners host Tombstone in their home opener this Friday. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 48 – 0 win over Baboquivari last week. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
