San Manuel Athletic Director Al Trejo announced the hiring of David Ward as the Miners’ new varsity football head coach. Ward takes over the Miners’ football program after leading the Kingman program in 2013.
Ward and the Miners’ players officially started the 2014 season on Monday, August 4, the first day of practice. The Miners will participate in a three-way scrimmage with Benson and Tombstone on August 22. Tombstone will host the scrimmage which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
The Miners will open their season a week later on August 29 at Thatcher. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
