Miners Cross Country competes at Section Meet

The San Manuel High School Cross Country competed at the sectional meet on October 27th, along the way the Miners blazed several trails throughout southern Arizona.

In the Globe Meet on September 26th , the Miners had a strong showing with the boys team finishing in second place.For the boys team Patrick Lopezfinished in 4thplace with a time of20:04.0, placing 12thwas Nathaniel Lopezwith a time of21:14.9, placing 13th James Duarte waswith a time of21:17.9, placing 14th was Jared Gonzales with a time of 21:24.5, placing 21st was Marty Rodriquezwith a time of22:42.1, placing in 22nd was Colten Strattonwith a time of 22:52.4, and placing in 23rd was Armando Sierra with a time of23:17.0.

For the girls team, placing 6th was Maritza Estrada with a time of 28:55.2, placing 9th was Selena Duarte with a time of 32:56.0, placing 14th was Jessica Lopez with a time of 35:26.7, and placing 17th was Annastasia Burrola with a time of 36:30.8.

In the Willcox Meet on October 13th , the boys team placed 9th with Jared Gonzales placing 26th with a time of 21:25.4, placing 29th was Patrick Lopez with a time of 21:34.9, placing 33rd was Nathaniel Lopez with a time of 22:06.8, placing 36th was Marty Rodriguez with a time of 22:11.5, placing 52nd was James Duarte with a time of 23:54.9, placing 57th was Armando Sierra with a time of 24:53.1, and placing 60th was Colton Stratton with a time of 25:26..6.

For the girls team, placing 23rd was Maritza Estrada with a time of 30:25.5, placing 35th was Selena Duarte, placing 37th was Diana Medina with a time of 32:18.4, and placing 44th was Jessica Lopez with a time of 35:06.5.

At the Safford Invitational on October 10th, the boys team had an impressive showing by finishing in 5th place. Placing for the boys team was Jared Gonzales with a time of 19:16, Nathaniel Lopez with a time of 20:00, Patrick Lopez with a time of 20:19, Colton Stratton with a time of 20:20, Marty Rodriguez with a time of 21:17, James Duarte with a time of 21:17, and Marco Salas with a time of 22:29.

The girls team also had a great showing as they placed4th in the Invitational, placing for the girls were Annastasia Burrola with a time of 26:54, Selena Duarte with a time of 28:01, Maritza Estrada with a time of 28:38, Diana Medina with a time of 29:05, and Jessica Lopez with a time of 36:48.

The Boys JV team got into the action, placing for the Miners was Tyler Yazzie with a time of 22:08, Breyden Main with a time of 23:03, and Omar Gallego with a time of 26:20.

On October 17th, the Miners hosted a meet with the girls team placing in the first top five spots, placing 1st with a time of 28:21.45 was Annastasia Burrola, placing 2nd with a time of 28:24.76 was Selena Duarte, placing 3rd with a time of 28:28.49 was Martiza Estrada, placing 4th with a time of 28:32.37 was Diana Medina, and placing 5th with a time of 32:29.64 was Jessica Lopez.

The Boys Team also took the top spots, placing 1st with a time of 19:58 was Nathaniel Lopez, placing 2nd with a time of 20:34 was Jared Gonzales, placing 3rd with a time of 20:41 was James Duarte, placing 4th with a time of 20:42 was Patrick Lopez, placing 5th with a time of 20:47 was Wayne Newman, placing 6th with a time of 21:01was Marty Rodriguez, and placing 7th with a time of 21:16 was Colten Stratton.

The JV Boys team got another chance to compete, placing 1st with a time of 22:37 was Marco Salas, placing 2nd with a time of 24:25 was Carlos Salas, placing 3rd with a time of 24:44 was Tyler Yazzie, and placing 4th with a time of 27:08 was Omar Gallego.

On October 27th at the Section Meet, the boys team finished in 9th place out of 12 teams.The top runner for the boys was Jared Gonzales.The girls did not have a team score because they only had four girls.The top runner for the girls was Selena Duarte.
