Miner Tracksters compete in Willie Williams Classic and San Manuel State Qualifier

The San Manuel High School Track team hit the track in the Willie Williams Classic at the University of Arizona in Tucson on Mar. 14, 15 and 16. A portion of the Miner boys track team took part in the competition with Senior Wayne Newman taking down some of the bigger Tucson schools competitors finishing in first place overall in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.59 and also taking first place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.81.

In other competition at the Willie Williams Classic, in the 100 meter – Sergio Hernandez finished with a time of 12.29; in the 200 meter – Wolf Tubach finished with a time of 26.35; in the 400 meter – Nathaniel Lopez finished with a time of 55.46; in the 800 meter – James Duarte finished with a time of 2:24.24, and Patrick Lopez finished with a time of 2:36.58; in the 1600meter – Jared Gonzales finished with a time of 5:26.57, and Patrick Lopez finished with a time of 5:37.74, and Colton Stratton finished with a time of 5:41.60; and in the 3200 meter – Colton Stratton finished with a time of 12:21.38, and Jared Gonzales finished with a time of 12:37.27.

In the 4×100 Relay – the team of Nathaniel Lopez, Colten Smith, Sergio Hernandez, and Wayne Newman finished with a time of 46.79; in the 4×400 Relay – the team of Nathaniel Lopez, Cade Cox, Sergio Hernandez, and Wayne Newman finished with a time of 3:46.50; in the 4×800 Relay – the team of Patrick Lopez, Roger Felix, James Duarte, and Jared Gonzales finished with a time of 9:55.27.

In the Long Jump – Sergio Hernandez finished with a jump of 17’0”, Wolf Tubach finished with a jump of 16’11”, and Cade Cox finished with a jump of 16’6.50”; in the Triple Jump – Colten Smith finished with a jump of 33’1.00”; in the High Jump – Roger Felix finished with a jump of 5’4”, and Wolf Tubach finished with a jump of 5’2”; in the Shot Put – Adrian Diaz finished with a throw of 33’1.00”, and Jordan Tovar finished with a throw of 31’1.00”; in the Discus – Jordan Tovar finished with a throw of 87’4.00” and Adrian Diaz finished with a throw of 87’1.00”.

On March 20, the Miners hosted its first state qualifier of the year with Canyon State Academy, Ajo, San Carlos, Globe, Immaculate Heart, Baboquivari, and San Manuel competing in the meet. The San Manuel girls team finished in first place and the boys team took second place to Canyon State.

In the Girls Results: in the 100 meter – in 1st place was Lizzettee Campa with a time of 14.29, in 2nd place was Nicole Predgo-Primero with a time of 14.70, and in 3rd place was Arianna Assini with a time of 15.01; in the 200 meter – in 3rd place was Arianna Assini with a time of 32.15; in the 400 meter – in 5th place was Aubri Estrada with a time of 1:12.40; in the 800 meter – in 5th place was Aubri Estrada with a time of 3:25.32; in the 1600 meter – in fifth place was Selelna Duarte with a time of 7:52.92; in the 3200 meter – in 3rd place was Selena Duarte with a time of 15:52.94 and in 5th place was Diana Medina with a time of 17:05.99; in the 100 meter hurdles – in 2nd place was Rosa Reyes with a time of 20.58; in the 300 meter hurdles – in 4th place was Rosa Reyes with a time of 1:06.34.

In the 4×100 Relay, the team of Melanie Ouellette, Nicole Primero Predgo, Lizzette Campa, and Maritza Estrada finished with a time of 1:01.19; in the 4×400 Relay the team of Lizzette Campa, Aubri Estrada, Asha Quintero, and Maritza Estrada finished with a time of 5:20.72; in the 4×800 Relay the team of Jessica Lopez, Maritza Estrada, Diana Medina, and Aubri Estrda finished with a time of 14:21.85.

In the shot put, first place was taken by Maximilliana Lara with a throw of 28’01.50”; in the Discus – in second place was Maximilliana Lara with a throw of 76’07”, in third place was Samantha Gonzales with a throw of 71’07”, and in 4th Ani Robles place was with a throw of 70’02”;

In the High Jump – Ani Robles finished with a jump of 4’04”; in the Long Jump – in 1st place was Nicole Primero Predgo with a jump of 13’01”, in 2nd place was Rosa Reyes with a jump of 12’04.50”, in 3rd place was Marissa Gonzalez with a jump of 10’06.50”, and in 4th place was Reba Price with a jump of 10’50”; in the Triple Jump – in 1st place was Nicole Primero Predgo with a jump of 27’00”, in 3rd place was Martha Estrada with a jump of 24’00”, and in 4th place was Rosa Reyes with a jump of 22’08.50”.

In the Boys Results: in the 100 meter – in 3rd place was Sergio Hernandez with a time of 12.05, in 6th place was Yordi Garcia with a time of 12.65; in the 400 meter – in 2nd place was Nathaniel Lopez with a time of 55.90; in the 1600 meter – in 4th place was James Duarte with a time of 5:31.51, in 6th place was Jared Gonzales with a time of 5:38.21; in the 3200 meter – in 3rd place was Colton Stratton with a time of 12:43.81, in 4th place was Carlos Salas with a time of 13:13.17; in the 110 meter hurdles – in 1st place was Wayne Newman with a time of 14.12 (New School Record) in 4th place was Wyatt Fesseden with a time of 23.04; in the 300 meter hurdles – in 1st place was Wayne Newman with a time of 39.54, and in 6th place was James Duarte with a time of 1:01.08.

In the 4×100 Relay – the team of Nathaniel Lopez, Angel Esquivel, Sergio Hernandez, and Wayne Newman took 2nd place with a time of 48.88; in the 4×400 Relay – the team of Nathaniel Lopez, Jared Gonzales, Sergio Hernandez, and Wayne Newman took 2nd place with a time of 3:47.49; and in the 4×800 Relay – the team of Patrick Lopez, James Duarte, Colton Stratton, and Jared Gonzales took 3rd place with a time of 9:44.22.

In the Shot Put – in 6th place was Adrian Diaz with a throw of 33’04.50”; in the Discus – Adrian Diaz finished with a throw of 90’05”; in the High Jump – in 4th place was Wolf Tubach with a jump of 4’10”; in the Long Jump – in 4th place was Sergio Hernandez with a jump of 17’09”; in the Triple Jump – in 6th place was Wolf Tubach with a jump of 28’06”.

The Coaching staff chose the following students as Athletes of the week: Nicole Primero Predgo and James Duarte.

The Miners Track team will head off to Ray today to compete against Valley Lutheran, San Carlos, Gilbert Christian, and San Tan Foothills with the meet starting at 3:30 p.m.
