Miner Track team competes in Safford Rotary; will host San Manuel Rotary meet Friday

The San Manuel High School Miner Track team traveled to Safford to compete in the Eastern Arizona Rotary Invitational on Apr. 19.

The boys team finished in 8th place overall and the girls finished in 12th place.

Wayne Newman who next year will be running college track at Lipscomb University was chosen as male athlete of the meet.

For the Girls Results: in the 100m:Lizette Campa finished with a time of 14.17, and Maritza Estrada finished with a time of 15.53; in the 200m: Lizette Campa finished with a time of 30.44 and Ronzi Carbajal finished with a time of 33.44; in the 800m: Sabrina Duarte finished with a time of 3:19.06. In the 1600m: Selena Duarte finished with a time of 7:26.03, Diana Medina finished with a time of 7:43.87, and Sabrina Duarte finished with a time of 7:44.19; in the 3200m: Selena Duarte finished with a time of 17:15.11,and Jessica Lopez finished with a time of 18:10.87.

In the 100m Hurdles: Rosa Reyes finished with a time of 20.72; in the 4x100m Relay: taking 5th place was the team of Ronzi Carbajal, Maritza Estrada, Nicole Predgo, and Lizzette Campa finished with a time of 57.40; in the 4x400m Relay: taking 6th place was the team of Ronzi Carbajal, Lizzette Campa, Maritza Estrada, and Aubri Estrada finished with a time of 5:16.35. In the 4x800m Relay: taking 6th place was the team of Selena Duarte, Sabrina Duarte, Aubri Estrada, and Diana Medina finished with a time of 13:34.86.

In the Shot Put: Samantha Gonzales finished with a throw of 26’2”, Ani Robles finished with a throw of 24’4”, and Kiana Estrada finished with a throw of 23’6.5”; in the Discus: Samantha Gonzales finished with a throw of 80’9”,Ani Robles finished with a throw of 74’11”, and Ana Estrada finished with a throw of 69’6”.

In the High Jump: Ani Robles finished with a jump of 4’8”; in the Long Jump: taking 7th place was Nicole Predgo finishing with a jump of 13’3”, Rosa Reyes finished with a jump of 12’3.25”, and Ana Estrada finished with a jump of 9’4.25”; and in the Triple Jump: taking 6th place was Nicole Predgo finishing with a jump of 28’3”, and Rosa Reyes finished with a jump of 26’0.75”.

For Boys Results: in the 100m: Sergio Hernandez finished with a time of 12.36, and Yordi Garcia finished with a time of 13.07; in the 200m: Yordi Garcia finished with a time of 26.84, and Christian Cazares finished with a time of 27.00; in the 400m: Nathaniel Lopez finished with a time of 56.64, Christian Cazares finished with a time of 59.10, and Jared Gonzales finished with a time of 1:00.26. In the 800m: James Duarte finished with a time of 2:30.99,Patrick Lopez finished with a time of 2:29.67, and Breyden Main finished with a time of 2:40.74.

In the 1600m: James Duarte finished with a time of 5:19.13,Colton Stratton finished with a time of 5:20.85, and Patrick Lopez finished with a time of 5:35.69; in the 3200m: Colton Stratton finished with a time of 11:34.54, and Breyden Main finished with a time of 15:04.76. In the 110M Hurdles: taking 1st place was Wayne Newman finishing with a time of 14.66. In the 300m Hurdles: taking 1st place was Wayne Newman finishing with a time of 39.90; in the 4x800m Relay the team of Patrick Lopez, Colton Stratton, Jared Gonzales, and James Duarte finished with a time of 9:54.63.

In the Shot Put: Yordi Garcia finished with a throw of 36’0”, Adrian Diaz finished with a throw of 30’2”, and Michael Sanchez finished with a throw of 27’6”. In the Discus: Michael Sanchez finished with a throw of 91’4”, Yordi Garcia finished with a throw of 87’8”, and Adrian Diaz finished with a throw of 83’9”.

In the Long Jump: Sergio Hernandez finished with a jump of 16’8.75”, and Nathaniel Lopez finished with a jump of 16’3”.

The coaches have chosen Ani Robles and Colton Stratton as athletes of the week.

The Miners will host the San Manuel Rotary Track Meet Friday Apr. 26; Field events begin at 11:30.
