On Thursday, Oct. 12, the Miner swimmers traveled to the Fort Lowell Pool to compete in a triangle meet against The Gregory School and Green Fields School. The Miners won both the Boys and Girls Meets.  The team scores for the Girls were:  San Manuel 104, The Gregory School 29, and Green Fields 0.  The team scores for the Boys were:  San Manuel 62, the Gregory School 22, and Green Fields 9.

The Girls won 8 of the 11 events contested, including all 3 relays. The Medley Relay team of Raya Woods,  Gianna Sweeney, Aubrey Bridges, and BaiLee Hill won to get things started for the Miners.  Darien Apuron won the 200 Free and 500 Free, Gianna Sweeney won the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke, and Raya Woods won the 100 Freestyle.  The Miners Relay team of Darien Apruon, Jasmine Smith, Bonnie Bridge, and Star Chavez won the 200 Free Relay.    Darien, Raya, Star, and Gianna teamed up at the end of the meet to win the 400 Free Relay.

The Boys won 6 races at the meet.  The Medley Relay team of Michael Primero-Predgo, Jayden Smith, Evan Apruon, and Daniel Garcia won the opening event for the Boys.  Evan won the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly.  Jayden won the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.  The final event of the meet was also won by the Miners relay team of Michael, Jayden, Evan and Daniel.

After the outstanding performances at a big invitational at the University of Arizona the previous week, it could have been easy for swimmers to have a let down this week, but in most cases swimmers swam very well and achieved good times.

Aubrey Bridges was named Dynamite Swimmer of the Week for her great swims at the meet.  Aubrey achieved personal best times in her Butterfly leg on the Medley Relay as well as her 200 Individual Medley.  As a freshman Aubrey has worked hard in practice and shown a willingness to compete in some of the toughest events in High School Swimming which have included the 200 IM, 500 Free, and 100 Butterfly.

Miner swimmers will travel to the Terra Del Sol Pool in Tucson on Thursday for a meet against Sabino and Palo Verde High Schools.    The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
