Softball– Since going 3 – 3 in the season opening Wrangler Classic tournament against teams in higher divisions, the top-ranked Lady Miners’ softball team has won four-straight, looking like a team ready to three-peat. They defeated San Carlos last Wednesday in their most recent win, 12 – 0. They’ve allowed only two runs per game while scoring almost 16 runs per game during the four-game winning streak. Alyssa Cuellar, Felicia Medina, Lyana Waddell, and Kadi Monfred all hit home runs in the shutout victory against the Braves. Medina, a senior, was 3-for-3 with a double to go along with her homerun. Mireya Tamayo also had three hits, while Monfred and junior Ashley Vargas had two hits each. Waddell earned her seventh win of the year, pitching a complete game shutout, her third of the year. She allowed only three hits and struck out seven. She did not walk a batter. Upcoming schedule: Mar. 25 vs. Duncan and Mar. 31 at Ft. Thomas. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
