  Mina E. Alvidrez, 86, former resident of Kearny died Aug. 19, 2016, at Divinity Home Care in Reno, Nevada. 

  She was born July 17, 1930 in Hurley, New Mexico. She married Elias C. Alvidrez in 1949 and they moved to Kearny in 1958 where Elias worked and retired from Kennecott Copper Corporation. 

  Mina was active in the Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic church and was an active community volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Neighborhood Literacy Program and numerous other organizations.         

  Upon retirement they moved to Reno, Nevada where Elias preceded Mina in death in 1988. Mina resided in Kearny and Reno. In 2013 she joined her eldest son Gilbert in Pinetop residing at Solterra Senior Living facility in Lakeside until returning to Reno in November of 2014. 

  Mina was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and recently granddaughter Michelle Harms Gandolfo Sunier.  She is survived by children, Gilbert (Debe Campbell) of Pinetop, Arizona, Alice Harms Jerome (Stan) of Reno, Nevada and Elias ( Renee) of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition there are numerous nieces, nephews and a large family of friends.

  A memorial rosary and mass will be held at the Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic church in Kearny, Sept. 7, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for the Rosary followed by the Mass at 10 a.m. Committal services will follow at the Hayden Cemetery where inurnment will take place next to her husband.

  The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Mina’s name.
