  Melvin Eugene Hammond, 79, passed away on April 4, 2016 at Top of the World of natural causes.

  He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hammond; daughters, Kathy Browner (Douge Massey), Karen (Johnie) Brake and Debra (John) Torres; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

  Melvin was a cowboy and rancher, with a rich past as a student with a freshman education who went on to be a Navy veteran who served two terms in the Korean War, a retired miner of 30 years from Magma Copper, and a roofer.

  Services will be held at the VFW Hall in Superior on April 16 at 1 p.m. A potluck will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a bank account to help with the final cost at the Bank of West, account number 041910480.
