MEDICAL CODING & BILLING PROGRAM
 
Individuals wishing to pursue the rewarding profession of Medical Coding and Billing have the opportunity to begin training at Gila Community College (GCC) this fall semester. The program is offered with a one-year track or a two-year track. Call your local campus to discuss your options with an academic advisor.
 
For the one-year tract students will take 14 credits this fall as follows:
•             BIO 160, Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology
•             HCE 102, Introduction to Health Information Management
•             HCE 103, Computers in Health Care
•             HCE 112, Medical Terminology
•             HCE 181, Medical Claims Processing
 
The core classes in the Medical Coding and Billing Certificate of Proficiency Program will be taught by Fisher-Smith at the Gila Pueblo Campus in Globe and at the Payson Campus via ITV. Fisher-Smith has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare field and has been instructing medical coding and billing for 16 years. She holds two Master Degree’s in Business Administration and Project Management.
 
GCC fall semester is from August 22 through December 15. Registration is ongoing now. Students 55 and older, have tuition waived.
