Mathew R. Stover

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Mathew R. Stover, 35, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, family member, friend and colleague passed suddenly in the morning of Tuesday April 30, 2019.

Mathew will be missed everyday by his wife, Tiffany, and his two daughters Divina and Ariana. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann and stepfather, Rusty Kent; his father, Vern Stover Jr. and stepmother, Kate; brother, Erik; grandparents, Ralph Montoya, Kay and Vern Stover Sr.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Mathew was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Erika Montoya, and cousin, Kimberly Montoya.

He grew up in San Manuel, AZ and after graduation from San Manuel High School moved to Tucson, AZ where he attended Pima Community College studying culinary arts.  After several years in kitchens he switched career paths and became a corrections officer for the Arizona Department of Corrections until his death.  Mathew’s passion was writing fiction/fantasy and in his free time wrote and self-published several books under the pin name M. R. Stover.

His celebration of life was held in Oro Valley on May 4 and well attended by family and many friends.  It was wonderful getting to hear how Mathew influenced and supported his many friends and colleagues.  The show of support for his family has touched our hearts and we are grateful for the community around us.
