Mary Virginia Gaona, known to all as “Ginger”, passed away July 14, 2012 in Oracle.
She was born Dec. 7, 1938 the only child to the late Dora Varela. Ginger was raised in Campo Bonito and in Oracle where she helped her mom in “ Dora’s Cafe.”
She graduated from San Manuel High School in 1957, married David Clark that same year and started her family. Ginger had two children David Jr. and Roberta.
Many from the area remember her as their bus driver. She drove the San Manuel High School kids for the Oracle School District for 11 years. She was later employed by Pinal County in Florence and in Mammoth.
Ginger married Dario Gaona in 2000. She enjoyed spending time with family and making an occasional trip to the casino with her husband. Ginger was very talented in her hobbies of knitting, scrap-booking and especially in quilting.
She leaves behind her husband Dario Gaona; son, David (Vivian) Clark; daughter, Roberta (Roque) Quijada; and two grandchildren, Yvette and Rocky II Quijada. She also leaves behind cousins, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Ginger’s daily goal was to make someone smile, to brighten their day. She did this well. She will be missed by all.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 28, at St. Helens Catholic Church in Oracle. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Oracle Cemetery. A gathering will be held immediately after at the Oracle Community Center.
