Mary ‘Jessie’ Huerta

  Mary “Jessie” Huerta, 74, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2018, with her family by her side in Mesa, AZ.

  She was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Superior, AZ to Leo and Maria Gonzalez.

  Jessie was a lifelong homemaker, wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She lived to love others, and she had a special way of making the people around her smile and laugh. She would always say, “It’s not how you feel, it’s how you look.” Anyone that was fortunate enough to meet her would agree, she was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.

  She married twice before meeting Tony Huerta in her hometown. They would marry in May of 1980 and spend the next 37 years of their lives together creating wonderful memories with their seven children. She was a beloved grandmother and adored all of her grandchildren. She was very social and an active member of her community. She dedicated her time at the Senior Citizen Center ensuring those around her felt loved and cared for.

  Jessie is preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Dicko” Ochoa, and her parents, Leo and Maria Gonzalez. Jessie is survived by her husband, Tony Huerta; sons, Johnny, Loren, Robert, Michael and Xavier; daughters, Monica and Becky; 29 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

  Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior, Arizona, with visitation at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Superior, with a reception to follow at St. Mary’s Center in Superior.
