, 90, Superior/Tucson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.
Maria was born on Oct. 9, 1924, in Phoenix, Ariz. and raised in Nogales, Sonora, Mex. She later moved to Superior with her husband, Manuel, and family.
Maria was a diligent prayer warrior and a dedicated Bible reader who memorized countless scriptures. She also enjoyed music and singing, embroidering, crocheting, cooking, shopping, and especially family gatherings. She touched many lives with her unwavering faith, unquenchable joy and unconditional love.
She is survived by her five children: Cecilia Hernandez, Tempe; Yolanda Gonzales, Mesa; Manuel (Helen) Pelayo, Tempe; Heidi Pelayo, Superior; Cindy (Frank) Florez, Tucson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Benny Nuñez, San Pedro, Calif.
