Many summer activities still on the calendar

While the countdown to the first day of school is drawing near, there is still plenty of time for residents to participate in some Summer fun.

Dive In Movie: This week the Town of Superior will host their second Dive in Movie night at the Superior Public Swimming Pool. This month’s feature film is “The Goonies”. In addition to the free swimming and movie refreshments will be served. The dive in movie event begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11.

Teen Dance Luau: On Thursday, July 19, Angie Gomez and the Manic Hispanic will be hosting a Teen Luau Pool party for Superior Teens in grades 7-12. Incoming seventh graders and graduating seniors are allowed to attend. The pool party will begin at 7 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m. The event will feature free swimming, food, games and lots of fun for teens before they head back to school.

Win to Swim: Friday, July 20, from noon to 4 p.m., the Superior Substance Abuse Coalition will host its annual Win to Swim event at the Superior Junior Senior High. Participants can earn a free backpack, school supplies and a one day pool pass when they visit each of the prevention and information booths. There will also be entertainment and free food during the event. Resident who need to dispose of prescription and over the counter medications can also bring them to the Win to Swim where they will be collected and disposed of properly.

Football Combine: Are you ready for some Football? On Saturday, July 21, there will be a Football Combine Challenge at the Superior Memorial Football Field. Combine teams from Superior, Salt River High School, Ray, Hayden, Globe, San Carlos and San Manuel are confirmed to compete in the combine. Spectators can come out and watch these gridiron players compete in six different strength events. The top two teams will complete the competition with a game of tug of war. This event is being sponsored by Patrick Castillo Athletic Trainer – Director of ABC Training and Rehab.

Music in the Park: On July 26, the Town of Superior will host the last Music in the Park session with an ice cream social. This will be the last Music in the Park event for the season. Music in the Park is coordinated by the Superior based bands Eric and Co. along with David Martinez. The bands play from 6-9 p.m. at the Besich Park.
