Manuel “Mickey” Urquieta 80, of Superior, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 peacefully in Baldwin, California.
Manuel was born Aug. 28, 1932 to Santiago and Lola Urquieta in Terlingua, Texas. He graduated in 1951 from Superior High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 through 1962 during the Korean war. In 1955 he moved to Los Angeles, California and began his career as a barber until he retired in 1992.
Manuel is survived by his children, Juan Carlos (Rosario) Barba-Urquieta, Alma (Jeff) Bickham and Rigoberto Urquieta of Ontario California; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Teresa U. Denogean (Gilbert) of Apache Junction, Maria U. Reyna (Oscar) of Superior and Hortensia Castillo of Mesa; brother, Ernesto “Neto” Urquieta of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Urquieta were held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior with the visitation and Rosary held on Friday, July 19. The Mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 20, and interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Superior.
