At a special meeting of the Mammoth Town Council held on Thurs. Oct. 25, the Council voted to make Diana Stirling a Department Head.

Stirling will be the Department Head over the Mammoth Public Library. She will now be working in a full time position at $40,000 per year. New duties will include grant writing and the library may be open more days and hours.

The Public Works Department will be buying Redimix for sidewalks from a company in Tucson as they could get a better price than what was being offered by Mammoth Lumber. There was also a discussion about Mammoth residents that had paid to have sidewalks put in near their homes and the work had not been done. The Council said they would make sure they were taken care of.

After the short meeting, the Council met for a Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG) workshop with Community Development Coordinator for CAAG Mary French Jones and Mayor of Florence Tom Rankin and CAAG committee chair.

The workshop was to help the Town of Mammoth prepare for the implementation of a water quality management system. Mammoth wants to improve the quality of drinking water and update their wastewater management system.

New Department Head, Diana Stirling was taking notes as there are grants available to help with water quality projects.
