Mammoth Police Report

According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

Items are given to the San Manuel Miner by the Mammoth Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

Sept. 11

A suspicious person was reported in the area of Owens St. Twice a woman reported being outside her home near her washer and dryer when she heard someone whistle at her. The woman saw a man hiding in the trees across from the home.

Sept. 15

A report of harassment was received.

Sept. 16

Suspicious activity was reported in the area of Rolf St. A person reported that someone or something was running across the roof of their house. An officer responded but did not find anything. The officer told the reporting party they would keep an eye on the home through the night.

Sept. 18

A female party reported that she and her brother were harassed by someone walking on Main St.

Sept. 20

A report of suspicious activity was received. The reporting party said that he saw what looked like four men breaking into her neighbor’s house. An officer made contact with one of the men at the neighbor’s house. He stated that they were cleaning the house. Contact was made with the owners of the home who confirmed the story.

Sept. 24

A report of a vehicle accident on Main Street was received. Someone had hit a power pole with their vehicle. MPD was advised that the driver had left the scene. The suspect who had hit the pole came in later to the MPD office and reported himself.

Calls not listed include: medical (31), animal complaint (2), fingerprints (7), warrant served/cleared (3), 911 hang-up (2), vacation house watch/welfare check (4), civil standby/public assistance (1) and fire (1).
