passed away peacefully in Mesa, AZ, on April 21, 2014.
She was a longtime resident, born and raised in Superior.
Lucy loved to play Bingo. She made sure she went on a weekly basis, whether it was at the VFW or to a Casino. She also loved to dance, play cards, and was a great cook.
She is preceded in death by her three boys, Ruben (Titi), Raul (Lou-Louie) and Richard (Richie) Barreras. She is survived by her two sisters, Helen of Colorado, and Martha of Michigan; longtime companion, Garry Despins; daughter, Hortencia (“Tenchie”) Villaverde; and sons, David (Maria) Barreras of Superior, AZ, and Andrew (Danny) Barreras of Tempe, AZ. Lucy is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucy leaves behind many friends, nieces, nephews.
Celebration of Lucy’s life was held May 3 at Los Hermanos Ballroom.
Arrangements were handled by Samaritan Funeral Home of Phoenix, AZ.
