Local Scout Troop has ‘Court of Honor’

Friends and family joined the boys and leaders from Scout Troop 822 following the ‘Court of Honor.’

On Sunday, Aug. 16, Boy Scout Troop 822 awarded a number of their scouts badges and advancements in scout ranks as well as other recognitions at its Court of Honor.

The Court of Honor was held at the Mammoth-San Manuel Jr.-Sr. High School. Those in attendance also got to watch an excellent presentation and slideshow from University of Arizona student Giselle Webb. The presentation was about Giselle traveling with other U of A students to Cuba where they spent a month learning about the culture and people of the country.

Scouts receiving the awards were:

Michael Garcia:2015 Old Pueblo Camporee Staff patch; Historic Trails Award; 50 Miler Award; National Outdoor Badges – Camping Silver Service, Hiking Gold Device, Aquatics Silver Device, Adventure Badge & Conservation Badge with gold device; World Conservation Award; Merit badges – Communications, Backpacking, Pioneering, & Cooking.

Alec Newman:2015 Old Pueblo Camporee Staff patch; Historic Trails Award; 50 Miler Award; National Outdoor Badges – Hiking Gold Device, Adventure badge, Conservation Badge with silver device; National Medal for Outdoor Achievement; Merit Badges – Backpacking, Dog Care, Home Repairs, Pets, Eagle Palm Bronze, Eagle Palm Gold, Religious Medal, and the William T. Hornaday Badge.

Michael Sanchez:Merit Badges – Communications, Cooking; National Outdoor Badges – Camping Gold Device.

Grant Smith:2015 Camp Lawton participant patch; 2015 Camp Lawton Summer Camp participation ribbon for troop flag; 2015 Old Pueblo Camporee participant patch; 2015 Old Pueblo Camporee participation ribbon for troop flag; Historic Trails Award; 50 Miler Award; National outdoor Badges – Camping Badge; Merit badges – Backpacking, Cooking, Basketry, Citizenship in the World, Archery, Camping, Hiking, Swimming, First Class Rank.

Robert Sweeney:merit badges – Cooking; National Outdoor Badges – Camping Badge with Gold Device.

The Adult Leaders were also presented with awards:

Terry Newman:2015 Old Pueblo Camporee Staff patch; Historic Trails Award; 50 Miler Award.
