Local Girl Scouts troop celebrates fourth birthday

Kearny – On June 27, the Girl Scouts from the Copper Basin Unit celebrated the fourth birthday of Troop 1716. The troop’s first meeting was May 30, 2009, in Winkelman. Then the meetings were moved to Hayden at the senior center. Currently, the meetings are held every other Thursday at Constitution Hall in Kearny. The first Girl Scout Daisy was Marissa Baez, and the first Brownies were Shelby Anderson and Myranda Figueroa.

During this time the girls with birthdays during the year also celebrated and were given birthday crowns and certificates. In keeping with the birthday theme, games were played, and cake and ice cream were served. There to blow out the candles were Marissa Baez, Shelby Anderson and Myranda’s sister, Elaina.

Girl Scouts attending were Elaina Figueroa, Veronica Baez, Olivia Fernandez, Ava Richards, Analina Montijo, Isabella Montijo, Landree Scaggs, Emma Baker, Bella Wernett, Shelby Anderson, Kassidy Ballejos, Izzy Kimmel and Marissa Baez.
