Local churches plan special services for Easter

Kearny, AZ – “Why do you seek the living among the dead. He is not here, but has risen.” Luke 24:5

Holy Week services will be held all around the Copper Basin this week in observance of the Passion of Our Lord and His Resurrection.

Church of the Good Shepherd, Senator Chastain St, Kearny, Pastor Nina Yardley: Maundy Thursday, the observance of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples and communion, 7 p.m. On Good Friday, the church will host a self guided non denominational Spiritual Walk through the Desert Garden. There will be 18 Prayerful Stations that portray the last week of Jesus’ life. The scriptural basis is from the Gospel of Mark. Everyone is invited to participate any time during the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Good Shepherd Church will also host a non-denominational
Easter Sunrise Service on the Village Patio in front of the fellowship hall at 6 a.m. followed by breakfast. The public is invited. The main celebration of Easter will be held at 9 a.m. with fellowship hour in Ray Hall following.

Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church, 501 Victoria Circle, Kearny, Fr. Thomas Dekaa, Pastor: Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 6:30 p.m. Good Friday, Stations of the Cross, 9 a.m. Passion of the Lord and Veneration of the Cross will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Holy Saturday, The Easter Vigil, 6 p.m. Easter Sunday, The Resurrection of the Lord, Mass at 10 a.m.

St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 Mountain View Rd., Hayden, Fr. Robert Rodriguez, Pastor: Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 6 p.m. Good Friday, Stations of the Cross, 3 p.m. Passion of the Lord and Veneration of the Cross, 6:00 p.m. followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction at 10 p.m. Holy Saturday, The Easter Vigil, 6 p.m. Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of the Lord, masses at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

In years past a Non-denomination Easter Sunrise Service has been held at Kearny Town Lake. This year due to illness, the service is tentative. Please check with either Fellowship Baptist Church or Kearny Southern Baptist Church for more information.

Kearny Southern Baptist Church, 302 Danbury. Pastor Bill Larsen: Easter Sunday, the church will be joining the sunrise services at the Kearny Town Lake, at 6:00 a.m. if it is held. Regardless, the church will be serving a pancake breakfast beginning at 9 a.m.

Fellowship Baptist Church, Tilbury and Danbury, Pastor Joe Palmer: the church will be joining the sunrise services at Kearny Town Lake, if it is held, other services are tentative, please check with the church.
