The Hayden football team ended its three-game winless streak to open the 2016 season, soundly defeating Ft. Thomas on the road last Friday night, 60 – 0.
“Overall, we played well,” Hayden head coach John Estrada said after the win, “We still need to fine tune some things on our offense, but the offensive line did a good job opening holes for our running backs and our backs ran hard.”
Estrada also added that his team is “finally” healthy and he sees more players committing to doing their jobs. Those two facts have allowed the Lobos to have success on both sides of the ball in their first win of the season.
The question is does Estrada feel his team has turned the corner and can continue to build on the win?
The Lobos’ second-year head coach is only focused on one game at time and that means he hasn’t thought past Friday’s opponent.
“We still have work to do,” Estrada said. “Duncan will be tough. They are a sound team and they are coming off a loss, so they will be ready for us.”
The Lobos visit Duncan this Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
