Editor:
Recently I received calls from two members of the Pinal County Sheriff’s office. The Pinal County Web site refers to them as being in key leadership positions within Babeu’s top management team in the Sheriffs office.
They were not simply line staff offering an opinion. These calls were from two high ranking county employees soliciting votes for Mary Bateman Espinoza for Board of Supervisors Dist. 1.
It was evident that Mary Bateman Espinoza had already sold her vote to Babeu. The only person who will benefit from her being elected is Babeu, not the employees of the Sheriffs office or the citizens of Pinal County.
This is unethical and completely invalidates the whole point of democracy. Having lived in Pinal County for most of my life, it is near and dear to my heart. I have know Peter Rios for all of the time he has served the citizens of this county and there have been times when we did not agree but in the end he always did what is best for the citizens of Pinal County.
He is honest, ethical and has never sold a vote for his own benefit. With 5 supervisors, each will be advocating for their area, Pinal County will need a strong advocate for Dist. 1, not a weak single issue Supervisor.
