Editor, San Manuel Miner:

Accolades to the many organizations that sponsored children and families for Christmas in the Tri-Community area as listed in the Miner’s Letter to the Editor of Dec. 28 by Joyce McClung.

In addition to these sponsors, for approximately ten years the women’s group, Koinonia at the Oracle Union Church has sponsored CPS children in foster care in the Tri-Community area for Christmas. On average each year, CPS provides Koinonia with a list of twenty children to sponsor for Christmas along with their clothes sizes and wish lists.

Koinonia earns the funds for the Adopt a Child sponsorship from their annual bake sale which takes place during the Church’s November community breakfast. Additional funds used are received through donations.

The address for the Tri-Community area of Child Protective Service (CPS) through the Department of Economic Security is PO Box 518, Mammoth, AZ 85618.

Koinonia members are in agreement with Ms. McClung, together as a community the goal should be to provide every needy child with a new gift or toy for Christmas 2012.
