Letter to the Editor: A note from Senator Smith

I wanted to write a brief ‘thank you note’ to all the wonderful people of the Copper Corridor for their support this past two years that I have served as your State Senator.  Because of the redistricting that took place earlier this year, we are no longer in the same legislative district, something that I truly wish would not have happened (I am now in the western and southern portions of Pinal County and in northern Pima County).

When you elected me I pledged to you that I would fight to balance our budget, to get our economy thriving again, and to lead the charge to secure our border and crack down on illegal immigration and I am pleased to say that I kept my promises.  During my term, Arizona went from having a $1 billion+ deficit to now having a budget surplus, we passed the Jobs Bill and moved Arizona from almost last in the country in job creation to being a Top 10 state (as well as #1 in the nation in start-up businesses), and I authored the bill signed by the Governor that allows Arizona to construct our own border fence to help protect our citizens, something the federal government has not done.

Rest assure, just because we are technically no longer in the same district, please know that I will always fight on behalf of the Copper Corridor and will help or assist the community (or anyone in it) at any time, so please feel free to contact me 602-926-5685 or email me at stevesmith@azleg.gov.

Once again, it has been my sincere honor to represent you and this district, thank you, and God bless!

  Sincerely,

/s/ Steve Smith

State Senator
