Three hundred fifty-six youth members of the Gilbert Highland West Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake visited Superior for a weekend retreat which included volunteer service at the cemetery in Superior. The students had two hours of service where they helped to remove weeds and paint the veterans memorial.
The retreat was hosted at the old high school. Following their community service project the students heard a motivational presentation from LDS Missionary Travis Tuttle who was one of two missionaries who were kidnapped in Russia. Mila Besich is a resident of Superior with two children. She volunteers for many local organizations. She is an experienced fundraiser and event planner for Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition. She covers some of the area town councils and schools.
