The Superior girls’ basketball team split two games last week, defeating San Manuel on Dec.9 before losing to their rival, the Ray Lady Cats on Dec. 10.
In last Tuesday’s 30 – 24 victory versus the Lady Miners, Cierra Navarrette and Jalisa Murray each scored a game-high eight points. Ariana San Miguel added six points and Maribel Castro finished with five.
Murray, a freshman, also recorded a game-high 11 rebounds. As a team, the Lady Panthers finished with 12 steals.
Against the Lady Cats last Wednesday, Superior trailed by 20 points at the half before outscoring Ray in the second half, 19 – 13.
Cierra Navarrette once again led the Lady Panthers in scoring versus the Lady Cats, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Hunter Flanagan and Ariana San Miguel each added 8 points. Flanagan also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. San Miguel had a game-high 5 steals. Jalisa Murray led the Lady Panthers with 8 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers played Hayden Tuesday, Dec. 16. Results of that game were unavailable at press time.
