Lady Miners win opening track meet; boys take second

San Manuel High School hosted nine teams in their first track meet of the season. The Miners girls’ team finished first, topping second-place Sabino and third-place Thatcher. The boys’ team took home second, a half-point behind first-place Thatcher. Sabino finished in third place on the boys’ side.

Individual girls’ results: 100m hurdles: 4th Sarah Silva 19.96, 5th Leticia Vargas 20.80. 100m: 5th Hannah Reidhead 14.14. 1600m: 3rd Eneida Quintero 6:43, 4th Diana Medina 7:38, and 5th Raya Woods 7:48. 400m: 3rd Hannah Reidhead 1:22 and 4th Karen Young 1:28. 300m Hurdles: 3rd Andrea Castaneda 59.20. 800m: 4th place Diana Medina 3:25.07 and 6th Yesenia Arcienega 3:34.25. 3200m: 1st Andrea Castaneda 15:04.70 and 4th place Jessica Lopez 15:49.37. 4 x 800m relay: 2nd place 12:15.53 (Eneida Quintero,Sabrina Duarte,Diana Medina,Andrea Castaneda). 4 x 100m relay: 1st place 1:01.36(Jade Willard,Leticia Velasquez,Ronzi Carbajal,Angelica Garcia). Shot Put: 2nd Cita Sweeney 26’8” and 5th Stephanie Morris 24’10”. Discus: 1st Cita Sweeney 74’4”, 2nd Stephanie Morris 72’8”, 4th Mariela Canisales 67’9”, and 5th Elizabeth Gonzlaez 63’9”. Triple Jump: 2nd Jade Willard 26’2” and 3rd Angelica Garcia 25’3”.

Individual boys’ results: 110m Hurdles: 3rd Andres Rodriguez 17.88, 4th Jared Gonzales 18.54, and 5th Carlos Salas 18.81. 100m: 5th Jose Damian 12.07. 1600m: 3rd James Duarte 5:27. 400m: 4th Andrew Gomez 58.02. 300m hurdles: 4th Jared Gonzales 45.70 and 6th Carlos Salas 51.56. 800m: 1st James Duarte 2:21.34 and 3rd Colton Stratton 2:25.87. 200m: 4th Jose Damian 25.04. 3200m: 3rd Patrick Lopez 12:11.67 and 6th Carlos Salas 13:01.54. 4 x 800m Relay: 1st 9:21.20 (Patrick Lopez,Juan Ortega,Colton Stratton,James Duarte). 4 x 100m Relay: 4th place 49.57(Jose Damian,Andrew Gomez,Randy Verdugo,Antonio Montes). 4 x 400m Relay: 2nd 3:55.21(Juan Ortega,Andres Rodriguez,Jared Gonzales,Andrew Gomez). The Miners will travel to University of Arizona in Tucson to compete in the Willie Williams Classic March 19-20.
