The San Manuel High School Lady Miners varsity volleyball team is ready to serve it up at the net, with Head Coach Deanne Brewer and Assistant Bethany Smith; the ladies will hope to improve on last year’s record of 6 – 10 overall.
The Lady Miners lost two starters in Seniors – Sierra Cruce and Alexis Garcia but they return a host of starters in Senior – Alexis Garibay Setter/Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist, Junior -Felicia Gomez Setter Outside Hitter, Senior – Karly Pena Setter/Defensive Specialist, Senior – Tisha Reidhead Setter/Defensive Specialist/Outside Hitter, Senior – Asha Quintero Middle Hitter/Blocker, Sophomore – Mireya Tamayo Defensive Specialist/Setter, Juniors – Mackenzie White Setter/Outside Hitter, Ana Zuniga – Outside Hitter, and Maria (Jelly) Zuniga – Middle Hitter/Blocker.
The Top Returners are Juniors – Brittney Allison Outside Hitter and Latryce Rodriguez -Defensive Specialist.
Top Newcomers are Senior – Ana Estrada moved here from Casa Grande and Junior – Ani Robles transferred from Tucson.
Coach Brewer said, “We have almost all of our girls back from last year. We are looking forward to a very successful season! We want to improve our record and compete against the bigger schools this year.”
The Lady Miners will host Hayden in a scrimmage on Aug. 23 at 5:00 p.m.
