The Lady Miners varsity volley ball team hosted the Immaculate Heart Lady Knights and the Florence Lady Gophers last week, taking the 3 – 0 victory over the Lady Knights and falling 3 – 0 to the Lady Gophers.
San Manuel hosted the Lady Knights on Tues. Oct. 2, picking up the win in a close first set 25 – 22, then the Lady Miners went on to win 25 – 13 in the second set, and continued to dominate in the third set with a 25 – 14 score.
Stepping up for the Lady Miners in the win were Alexis Garibay with two kills, eight assists, and seven digs, Angelica Zuniga had12 kills, and four blocks, Analisa Robles also had 12 kills and four blocks, Brittany Allison had two kills, Felisha Gomez had 12 assists and seven digs, Anilisa Estrada had four digs, Mireya Tamayo had five digs, Leticia Reidhead had four digs, and Karly Pena had a team high 16 digs.
The Lady Miners then hosted a very tough Lady Gophers team on Thursday Oct. 4 with Florence taking all three matches with a score of 25–14 in the first set, 25–8 in the second, and 25–7 in the third and final set.
Contributing for San Manuel was Garibay with two kills, three assists, and two digs, Asha Quintero with two kills and three blocks, A. Zuniga with two kills and two blocks, Gomez with one assists and two digs, Tamayo with eight digs, and Pena with five digs.
The Lady Miners traveled to Pusch Ridge on Tuesday to take on the Lady Lions and will be on the road to Tucson to take on the Lady Panthers from Amphi on Thursday with the JV playing at 5 p.m. and the varsity taking the floor at 6 p.m.
