In the first set, the Lady Miners lost 25 – 19, in the second set San Manuel lost again 25 – 19, the Lady Miners showed a little fight winning the third set 25 – 19, but not hold off the Lady Vandals losing 25 – 18 in the final set.

Contributing for the Lady Miners were Mackenzie White with three blocks, 18 digs and five assists; Alexis Garibay with eight digs, one kill, five assists and one Ace; Sierra Cruce with six blocks, one dig, one kill and two assists; Felicia Gomez with six digs, two kills and 16 assists; and Tisha Reidhead with six digs and one assist.

SM Head Coach Deanne Brewer said, “We played very well together… a lot different from last year’s team.  I have a positive feeling about this group of girls.  We have a lot of versatility and I think we will have a great season.”

The Lady Miners will have a very busy schedule this week: they hosted Immaculate Heart on Tuesday, will host Florence today at 5 and 6 p.m., travel to Ray on Thursday and finish the week at the Florence Invitational on Saturday.
